The Portuguese Kyudo Association has been founded under the guidance of S. Yokokoji in the fall of 1992. The open air dojo was used in the picturesque fishing village of Sesimbra, 30 km south of Lisbon. After a period of intense practice with Mr. Yokokoji the group took part in the European Kyudo Seminar, for the first time, in Germany, 2000, with great success. Since then the regular practice has been maintained and a considerable number of new members have joined the club. Additionally to participate in international seminars and Taikais, the group has been supported by Sensei Maki Kudo, who leads the annually national seminars. The Sesimbra city council recognizing the importance of the kyudo association has been granted the use of a magnificent place for erecting a traditional Kyudo dojo we still work on it.
